Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)

BS (equivalent) or higher in Geoscience/Geology or related field.Experience in a Geosciences research lab setting, following specific instructions meticulously.Experience gained from upper-level programming courses, research projects, internshipsorprevious work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

MS degree (equivalent) in Geosciences/Geology or related field.Experience with Mars CRISM data analysis and processing.Experience with Infrared spectral data processing and analysis.Experience working with Matlab, Fortran, and Python computer languages.Experience in mineralogy and geosciences.

Brief Description of Duties:

The successful incumbent must have outstandingwritten, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Experience effectively multi-tasking in a fast-paced, dead-line driven environment with a high degree of accuracy and organization. Under direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Support Specialist will assist with the following:

  • Under direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), assist with finding software solutions to scientific problems related to planetary remote sensing data analysis and laboratory spectral processing and analysis

  • Organize and synthesize dataEvaluate results within the framework of the field, as determined by periodical/literature search.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned.‚Äč

Special Notes:

This is a part time appointment, up to 30 hours per week.The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
